Great Parks & Nature Trails In & Nearby Burlingame

Washington Park

Washington Park is Burlingame’s main community green space—a 15-acre stretch of lawns, redwoods, and recreation areas that sits right in the heart of town.

Mills Canyon Park

Mills Canyon Park offers a quiet natural escape within Burlingame’s city limits—nestled in the foothills, the woodland-and-grassland loop trail provides a mix of nature and easy access.

  • Address / Location: 2930 Adeline Drive — with trailhead parking available along Adeline Drive and Arguello Drive. Parking can get crowded during peak hours.
  • What You’ll Find: The main Ed Taylor Loop Trail roughly 1.3 miles long, winding through oak and bay woodland, open grassland, and a shaded creek corridor; interpretive signage and benches along the route; moderate elevation changes for a short but rewarding workout; and a peaceful, natural setting that feels far removed from the nearby city grid. Dogs are allowed on-leash.

Bayside Park & Loop to Robert E. Woolley State Park

A flat, bayfront route that links Bayside Park with Anza Lagoon and continues to Robert E. Woolley State Park, forming an easy loop with wide water views and direct access to the San Francisco Bay Trail.

  • Address / Location: Bayside Park, 1103 Airport Blvd; the loop circles Anza Lagoon, 111 Anza Blvd and connects south to Robert E. Woolley Park along the shoreline.
  • What You’ll Find: Paved multi-use path along the Bay; scenic loop around Anza Lagoon; direct Bay Trail connection north toward Millbrae/SFO and south toward Coyote Point; bayside outlooks for plane-spotting and bird-watching; nearby Bayside Fields with restrooms and picnic tables.
  • Great For: Easy walks or runs, on-leash dog walks, casual biking, and bay-edge views with quick access from central Burlingame.

Coyote Point Recreation Area

Spanning 670 acres along the San Francisco Bay, this park on the border of Burlingame and San Mateo combines waterfront trails, a marina, and open green lawns in a single accessible destination.

  • Address / Location: 1701 Coyote Point Dr, San Mateo, CA — just east of US-101 and south of SFO.
  • What You’ll Find: Paved multi-use trails including a segment of the Bay Trail; a sandy beach and shoreline promenade; the marina and yacht club; large picnic and lawn areas; the themed “Magic Mountain” playground and science museum; bird-watching and open plane-spotting vistas via SFO.
  • Great For: Long walks, family outings, trail runs, cycling, and bay-edge recreation with views of ships, planes, and sailboats. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on the trail system.

Crystal Springs Regional Trail

The Crystal Springs Regional Trail is a multi-purpose corridor spanning roughly 15 miles along the San Andreas Fault, connecting San Bruno to Woodside and threading through woodlands, reservoirs, and watershed land on the Peninsula.

  • Address / Location: Main access point at 8251-7713, CA-35, Redwood City, CA , via San Mateo County Parks.
  • What You’ll Find: Three linked segments—San Andreas (paved), Sawyer Camp (6 miles paved along Crystal Springs Reservoir) and Crystal Springs (unpaved); panoramic views of Upper and Lower Crystal Springs Reservoirs; shaded woodland and grassland habitats supporting deer, bobcats and more than 180 bird species.
  • Great For: Jogging, cycling, walking, and getting into nature while remaining near Burlingame. Dogs are allowed on-leash in designated and posted trails/areas, but there are zones (e.g., around CuriOdyssey) where dogs are prohibited.
